Q.Is a large lobster less tender than a small lobster?

A.Large lobsters taste just as good as small lobsters.Jumbo lobster 3 pounds or more are delicious!

Q.How long does lobster last after it is cooked?

A.If prepared and stored according to the instructions found in our
lobster how-to,cooked lobster can last up to 4-5 days refrigerated.

Q.Are Big Fat Lobsters hard shelled or soft shelled?

A.All our lobsters are hard shelled lobsters for the most part due to the timing of the open fishing seasons in our region. Hard shelled lobsters travel better than soft shelled lobsters, and give you more meat for your money. We here at Bigfatlobster won't send you a soft shelled live lobster.

Q.What's the green stuff inside the thorax of a cooked lobster?

A.It's the lobster's liver or more accurately, its digestive system. A lot of people like to eat the "tomalley", but one should be aware that the
tomalley is where pollution in the lobster's own meal choices would become concentrated in the lobster's body.

Q.What is the nutritional value of lobster?

A.Nutrition studies show that 3 1/2 ounces of lobster meat, (without the butter), contains only 90 calories. Lobster also contains omega-3 fatty acids - the "good " cholesterol - that studies show may reduce hardening of the arteries and decrease the risk of heart attacks. So eat lots of seafood products offered by Bigfatlobster.com

Q.How do the lobsters arrive alive and kicking?

A.Our Big Fat lobsters are nestled snugly together, surrounded by frozen gel packs in an insulated shipping box, and delivered fresh to you overnight.

Q.What do I do when my lobsters arrive?

A.You should be home to receive your live lobster delivery. Inspect your shipment to ensure satisfaction, the lobsters may be slow moving due to the ice packs. DO NOT PUT LOBSTERS IN FRESH WATER, OR DIRECTLY ON ICE! Refrigerate and cook within 24 hours of receiving them. Lobster spoils very rapidly if it dies before it is prepared. If the lobsters tail doesn't curl up after you boil it, don't eat it!

Q.Can I get fresh Big Fat lobsters all year round?

A.Yes.We're prepared for the off season with a healthy supply of
fresh live lobsters stored in state of the art aquaculture facilities.

Q.Am I helping to deplete a natural resource,if I buy live fresh Atlantic
Canadian market size lobsters?

A.We have very good fisheries policies in our particular zone in the
Bay of Fundy,we are not allowed to keep small lobsters with shellbacks of less than 3.5 inches. In other words we don't keep canner size lobsters.Instead we put them back to grow into Big Fat lobsters!

Q.Do you have a satisfaction guarantee?

A.We do guarantee that you will receive your order of fresh Big Fat live lobster and seafood as requested. However, you are responsible for receiving your live lobster delivery, inspecting shipment upon delivery, to verify with the delivery person that all lobsters arrived live, and properly storing the product until preperation. Make sure someone is home to recieve the package and store the lobsters in the refrigerator. If the shipping package is damaged in such a way that it has caused some lobster to perish en-route, save all material including the dead lobster and contact the shipping agent marked on the waybill.

NOTE: We cannot be held responsible for U.S. shipments which may be delayed by U.S.customs, or for any fees charged by customs brokers if your shipment is held by customs.

Q.How many types of lobster live in the Atlantic ocean?
A.Two types of lobster live in the Atlantic ocean, the true lobster, which has claws on the first four legs;and the spiny lobster which has only a set of horns above the eyes for protection ,no claws!

Q.Do lobsters migrate?
A.Some lobsters tend to stay in one area for their whole life and are known as inshore lobsters, seldom venturing more than a mile offshore and then there are the exceptions;deepwater lobsters follow seasonal migratory patterns, moving shoreward in summer and returning to the continental shelf region in the fall.
